Leaving for Europe today, should have plenty of pictures when I get back in about a month.
coldbloodedreptile asked: I just found out that one of my favorite bands, the Mountain Goats, are based out of Durham. Have you ever seen one of their live shows before?
They’re in Durham? I always hear people talking about them like they’re the hugest best thing, but I’ve never really looked into them. So, haven’t seen their shows, no. Maybe I should? What stuff of theirs should I be listening to?
Well, No Children is one of their really popular songs, even if it isn’t necessarily one of my favorites. Here’s a list of other songs of theirs I like, in no particular order:
It’s really remarkable how much better these last few episodes of Legend of Korra have been now that the main character is barely involved at all.
Crossing my fingers that this season will be the one where Korra finally learns to quit acting like a five year old all the time.
Before this, my only experience visiting somewhere other than the US was during the
infamous “Trip Out West” that my parents took us on when I was nine.
We were in San Diego at the time, and they wanted the chance to “dine at a real Mexican restaurant”.
So naturally, we drive for about 15 minutes south of the border, and then immediately turn around and wait to get through border crossing for two hours because Baja California was too scary.
So anyway if my past experience with foreign countries is any indication, I expect Europe to look a lot like a run-down version of California, and to view it exclusively through the windows of a shitty RV that regularly breaks down multiple times a week.
So I’m officially going to Europe with my dad for about a month in Nov/Dec now.
It’s a cruise ship type thing, so we’re only going to be stopping at cities along the Mediterranean. You know, Venice, Athens, Istanbul, Naples, Rome, Florence, Barcelona, Rome again, all that good stuff.
We were originally only going to go for 12 days, but did you know that it’s seriously cheaper for us to just get right back on the boat for another two and a half weeks until it lands in Florida than it is to just get a single one-way plane ticket from Barcelona to Columbus?
Over a thousand dollars cheaper.
International travel is fucked up.
